1、 Overview:
Due to the different communication interfaces between ABB's intelligent protection equipment SPACOM100/REF500 series products and ordinary RS232 interfaces, without the help of special converters, ABB's intelligent protection equipment SPACOM100/REF500 series products cannot be connected to remote monitoring systems. Our company's early products specifically developed for ABB relay protection SPACOM100/REF500 series products do not have photoelectric isolation. In case of high voltage such as lightning strikes on the communication line, it is possible to directly damage the SPACOM100/REF500 series products. Therefore, our upgraded passive photoelectric isolation RS-485 converter can avoid this situation.
2、 Application scope:
Convert the serial port of ABB intelligent protection equipment SPACOM100/REF500 series products to RS-485 level and extend the communication distance to over 1200m (at 9600bps). Through RS485 network, it is convenient to send ABB intelligent protection equipment signals to remote monitoring systems.
3、 Wiring principle:
The appearance of the optoelectronic isolation RS-232/RS RS-485 converter is: one end is a DB-9 pin female head, and the other end is a terminal. One end of the DB-9 pin is directly connected to the serial port of ABB intelligent protection equipment SPACOM100/REF500 series products, and the other end (terminal) is the converted RS-485 signal (including 485+, 485-, ground). To prevent signal reflection during long-distance and terminal use, a 120 Ω matching resistor is connected between+A and - B. Note: When removing the terminal on the other end: Connect 1 to+A, 2 to+B, and 3 to GND.
4、 Performance characteristics：
1. No external power supply is required to ensure long-distance transmission.
2. Integrated wiring terminal, standard DB9 port serial port (also equipped with portable wiring port).
3. Zero delay automatic conversion of RS485 signal transmission and reception direction, half duplex communication with 3 wires (+A, - B, ground).
4. Built in 700W/MS lightning surge protector and 1.5KV anti-static protection.
5. Without the need for CTS flow control, zero delay automatic forwarding, or modification of existing software, the communication distance of RS232 can be extended by 1200 meters, with a maximum communication distance of 3 kilometers (9.6Kbps).
6. Supports multi machine communication and can connect up to 128 nodes, ensuring that they are all industrial grade (-40 ℃ TO+125 ℃) converters.
7. The isolation voltage of the converter is 2500V, and the maximum communication speed is greater than 19.2Kbps, which can actually reach over 38.4Kbps.
